Peabody Essex Museum

The Peabody Essex Museum is America’s oldest continuously operating museum, founded in 1799 by several of America’s first global entrepreneurs. Collections include rare pre-contact Native American art and artifacts, a few hundred of which are available online through PEM's ARTscapeTM database, a handsome search engine that will prove very valuable for Indigenous Studies teaching and research, if the PEM should ever revive and expand its digitization project in this area to include a larger percentage of its large Native American holdings.
